Odisha to buy Corona Vaccine from Global makers

Bhubaneswar: Odisha again going to show its confidence and commitment in the fight against Corona Virus Pandemic. The state cabinet under the chairmanship of Chief minister Naveen pattnaik has empowered the state Govt to buy best quality vaccines from the gloabal vaccine makers to speedily cover the vulnerable population. This will also help the population to save lives and restore livelihoods.

For the first time, any state in India has considered this innovative drive and timely approach to vaccinate its own population amid this crisis of availing home made vaccines.

The Chief secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra has said, “the state cabinet by this resolution has strenggthened the state authorities to take appropritate and necessary steps to contain Covid 19 Pandemic”.

Now the State can call global tenders for procure vaccines for the state. A highpower technical Committe will be constituted to review the interests and choose the best bid for our people.

In a statement the govt says: ” a global tender will be floated to procure vaccines for the people of Odisha. Odisha Government to make all out efforts to procure vaccines and ensure supplies at the earliest. “

Earnings from the Cess and surcharges as shared by the govt of India  shall be used to augment the state fund for fighting against this pandemic, said the CS in this statement.

The authorities in the state believe that vaccination can be the best alternative to  contain the pandemic as in Israel. Even this drive resulted much success  among the health workers in the state .
